In-flight skincare! for Summer or Winter holidays...... Yay! holiday time is here meaning lots of sun, sea and sand, not to mention the 35000 ft sky ride to arrive at my chosen destination! I don’t know about you, but my skin has as tendency to want age me when i fly. The change in air atmosphere makes my skin dry and tight. My skin is not the biggest fan of traveling. So, I wanted to share some of my favorite skincare tips while traveling! Prepping your skin before you travel will improve the skins feel and appearance. Two key: exfoliation and hydration . So, the night before your flight exfoliate your skin with either an exfoliating wash, I love PAYOT Gelée Gommante Douceur exfoliater After your exfoliation, continue with the rest of your normal skincare routine. The morning before your flight, make sure to really hydrate your skin, drink plenty of water. Now onto the actual flying part. My first piece of advice: if you can help it… try not to wear makeup on the airplane . Makeup can clog your pores and cause your skin to retain microorganisms that you don’t want on your skin! Foundations can also be drying which is the last thing you need on a plane. If you have an appointment or if you’re meeting with people immediately after you land, bring a small bag with a cleanser, moisturiser, foundation, and lip color that you can apply in the airplane bathroom before your meeting! During your flight, it’s important to really seal in your skin’s moisture, and there’s no better way to do that than a good facial. I recommend using a hydrating mask – the Water Power moisturising & Plumping sheet mask is a favorite of mine. It will nourish and revitalise your skin and leave it really hydrated for your flight! The Hyrda 24+ face serum will keep your skin from getting dehydrated on the plane. I would suggest applying the serum an hour before the end of the flight, then applying Hyrda 24+ face moisturiser

"Facial steaming is a great option for clients with acne prone skin or with stubborn blackheads" Steaming your face is a relaxing way to treat yourself at the end of a long day. It helps to increase circulation in your face and opens your pores so you can cleanse away impurities. The steam accomplishes two things: 1) The water vapor itself loosens dirt and contaminants that are clogging pores and 2) The heat induces sweating, which further flushes out pores. "Freshly cleaned pores are better able to absorb skin creams with active ingredients such as retinol based-products or prescription creams. However, facial steaming is not well suited for rosacea-prone skin as the heat can cause dilation of blood vessels, contributing to redness. Furthermore, it's not a good idea for people with dry skin or eczema because of the natural oils that are being stripped.

Liquid Gold PRP Facial skin rejuvenation, also known as PRP/Vampire Facial treatment, is a non-surgical procedure that has commonly been used to treat sports injuries, but this method of using a patient’s own platelets to help heal an injury has recently been discovered to have cosmetic benefits as well. If you’re attending your first PRP treatment, have no worries–the treatment isn’t painful, and will benefit your skin without any harsh chemicals. Here’s what you can expect from your Liquid Gold PRP Facial skin rejuvenation: POST-TREATMENT Immediately following your Liquid Gold PRP Facial skin rejuvenation, you may experience some swelling, redness and tenderness on the treatment area. The swelling and redness usually last for 12 to 24 hours. Small bruises may also occur but should disappear within two or three days. After about three weeks that you will start to see noticeable improvements in your skin. The reason for this delay is that the platelets injected into your skin need time to develop and release the special growth factors, which help repair skin tissues. Your skin tone and skin texture will keep improving over the following weeks and months as the treatment helps your skin develop new blood vessels. The cells from the PRP treatment area will regenerate and will be rapidly vascularised, leaving you with a more vibrant and refreshed look! To achieve the best effects a Liquid Gold Facial PRP treatment is recommended once a month for the first three to four months for optimal results. Then, a treatment every six or 12 months may be recommended depending on your treatment outcome. Don’t let you skin wait! call Pearl today to set up a free consultation and get the rejuvenated look you want!

What is the Dermafix pen and How does it work? The Genosys Dermafix Pen used by Skin Radiance is a market leading micro-needling product. As the name suggests, it is a pen shaped device with a set of fine, short needles at one end. The fine needles move up and down, and when placed upon the skin creates micro channels, tiny holes in the skin. This in turn forces the skin to ‘heal’ itself and thus generates the natural production of collagen and elastin in the treated area. This is how this treatment targets specific areas, forcing the body to heal itself of scares and the like. It also creates absorption rate of active ingredients in skin care products. Whats's Involved? The Dermafix pen is moved slowly over the surface of your skin area(s) you wish to target. You may feel slight pricking sensations or slight discomfort during the treatment but nothing severe. The treatment will take around 30 minutes from start to finish, depending on how many areas you want targeting and is virtually risk-free. How Long does the treatment last? The treatment usually takes around 3 days settle down, after which point you should be able to notice the benefits in the areas treated. These benefits vary greatly depending on the area and problem treated, which I will discuss at your free skin consultation pre-treatment. If you are happy with my advice, you can expect results to last from 1-3 months, sometimes longer. What are the side effects of the treatment? Side effects are not common but may include - redness or tenderness and a feeling of heat in the skin at the treated site. These symptoms should resolve within a few hours or within 1-3 days. Who shouldn't have microneedling treatment Dermafix Pen treatments are not suitable for any individual with Myasthenis Gravis, Lambert Eaton Syndrome, patients with swallowing difficulties, pregnant or breastfeeding women, those under 18 years or over 65 years of age and those who have an infection at the proposed injection site.

Dermaplaning Dermaplaning has been practiced by dermatologists and plastic surgeons for over 40 years. It was originally performed as an alternative to chemical exfoliation and later to prepare the skin for resurfacing treatments and deeper chemical peels. Dermaplaning has become an extremely popular treatment over the last few years, giving the client super soft skin and prime base for applying makeup. What is Dermaplaning? A safe and effective manual exfoliation procedure It is carried out using a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently shave the skins surface, removing the outer most layer as well as the “peach Fuzz” vellus hair This leaves the skin visibly smoother with an instant glow How does it work? Similar procedure to microdermabrasion, 2- weeks of dead skin cells are removed Manual exfoliation triggers the cell regeneration process and allows products to better penetrate the skin Removing the face of vellus hair also improves skin that can often accumulate dirt and oil at a Superficial, epidermal level only. Popular Questions Will the vellus hair turn into terminal hair? No, the only time this happens is during puberty or the years after. These changes are attributed to testosterone production in the body. Dermaplaning is simply removing the hair at the skin surface, although it may feel thicker initially when it first grows, this is simply due to the blunt tip pf the hair. It will retune to normal vellus hair. Can I have this treatment if I’m pregnant/Breastfeeding? Absolutely! As you are not using anything that acts at a cellular level like chemical peels, Dermaplaning is completely safe. Suitable clients Highly effective on clients with very dry skin or rough skin texture Mature skin, which often has a build up of dead skin cells and slower skin cell turnover Pregnant/lactating clients can have this treatment as they are contraindicated for peels. Dermaplaning is also non- inflammatory therefore is suitable for those with pigmentation Unsuitable Clients by skin type This treatment is extremely safe and most clients are suitable Only those suffering with severe acne or excessively oily skin wouldn’t be able to have treatment - Oils from sebaceous gland need to travel up to and connect with the vellus hair, if the hair is removed, the oils tend to stay below where they are mixed with bacterial colonies, ultimately making the skin more oily.
